Pickup rolls

DORNSIFE - Kyle Z. Davis, 24, of Dornsife, escaped injury in a rollover crash shortly after midnight Tuesday in Washington Township.

State police at Stonington said Davis was driving a 2000 Ford F350 north on Slutter Valley Road, near Ferster Valley Road, about 5 miles south of Dornsife, when he began to fall asleep. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and rolled onto its driver side.

Davis was wearing a seat belt. He was cited by Trooper David Myers with violating the traffic code driving on roadways laned for traffic. His vehicle was towed.

Pillow and Herndon fire departments assisted at the scene.

Mailbox damaged

PITMAN - Stephanie Reiner, 27, of Pitman, reported damage to her mailbox along Peach Tree Lane in Upper Mahanoy Township between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 7 a.m. Feb. 20, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Check stolen

HAMILTON - A personal check was stolen from Mary Deitman, 84, of 45 Sun Valley Drive, and cashed for $300 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 10, according to state police at Stonington. An investigation continues.

Vehicle damaged

PAXINOS - Abigail Rose Troutman, 19, of Coal Township, reported her vehicle's glove compartment door was disabled with an unknown object while the vehicle was parked at Masser's Farm Market along Route 61 in Shamokin Township. The incident occurred about 8 p.m. Feb. 18, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Rollover crash

PLUM CREEK - Tricia R. Heiser, 26, of Shamokin, suffered a minor injury in a crash Feb. 12 in Shamokin Township, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Heiser was driving a 2008 Suzuki Reno east on Captain Bloom Road near Plum Creek Road about 10:30 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle. It traveled up a snow embankment and rolled onto its roof, coming to rest in a residential yard. She was treated at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

SUV rolls

SNYDERTOWN - A Sunbury woman suffered a moderate injury in a rollover crash Sunday along Snydertown Road.

According to state police at Stonington, Kristen M. Kratzer, 24, was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander west near Zimmerman Hollow Road about 4 a.m. when the vehicle drove off the right side of the road. It struck a rock wall and a caution sign before rolling onto its driver side, sliding across the roadway and coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Kratzer was taken by a Sunbury area ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was listed in fair condition Sunday evening, according to a nursing supervisor. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The roadway was closed between Snydertown and Sunbury until the wreckage was cleared.

Kratzer will be cited by Trooper David Boucher for violating the vehicle code, driving on roadways laned for traffic.

2 hurt

PAXINOS - Two local men suffered minor injuries in a broadside collision Saturday along Route 61 in Shamokin Township.

According to a press release issued Sunday by state police at Stonington, Steven D. Clark, 50, drove a 1991 Geo Prizm from Irish Valley Road onto the state highway and into the oncoming path of a southbound 2011 Toyota Corolla driven by Steven T. Dodge, 29, of Ranshaw. The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m.

Both vehicles stopped on the berm along the northbound lanes, across from the Irish Valley Road tunnel. The Toyota sustained heavy front-end damage, and its front and side airbags deployed. The Prizm sustained heavy damage on its driver side.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, as was a passenger in the Geo, Amanda E. Noll, 35, of Danville. Clark will be cited by Trooper Mark Adams for a stop sign violation, police said.

Elysburg Fire Department and Ambulance, Overlook Fire Department and AREA Services ambulance responded.

Theft

HUMMELS WHARF - Karen E. Taormina, 25, and Elizabeth J. Howey, 27, both of Sunbury, were charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for an incident Friday at Walmart along Route 11/15 in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

Drunk driving

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two motorists were charged last month with two counts each of driving under the influence stemming from a field sobriety checkpoint along Route 61 Sept. 20.

Kimberly Finlan, 41, of 708 W. Coal St., Trevorton, was driving a 2006 Jeep when she was stopped about 2:50 a.m. Donald E. Kistler, 55, of 1546 Tioga St., Coal Township, was driving a 2011 Ford truck when he was stopped about 12:30 a.m.

Police said both failed field sobriety testing. Finlan had a 0.151 percent blood alcohol content, while Kistler's was 0.134 percent, according to criminal complaints.

Charges were filed Feb. 19 by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem and Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Keith Tamborelli.

Drug charge

SHAMOKIN - Donna M. Shaffer, 37, of 46 Adams St., is charged by Patrolman Ray Siko II with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she illegally possessed six oxycodone pills, a plastic straw and an Access card, both containing white residue, found inside a kitchen cabinet at her home about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 28. Police were dispatched to the scene during a probation check of neighboring 44 Adams St.

Crash charges

SHAMOKIN - John Traas, 22, of 514 S. Diamond St., is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with three counts of driving under the influence, and one summary count each of careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended property and drivers required to be licensed. Police said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.207 percent and tested positive for marijuana following a crash about 10:40 p.m. Dec. 28 near Market and Spruce streets. Traas had crashed a sedan into a utility pole before driving off and was found at a nearby bar, police said.

Code violations

SHAMOKIN - Four owners of blighted properties will be cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for violating the city code.

Richard K. Miller, 41, of 395 Old Route 15, Port Trevorton, was cited for 102 S. Pearl St. The rain gutter is detached, the chimney is collapsing, the roof is deteriorated and there is broken glass, according to the citation.

Christopher M. Elsayed, 39, of 201 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, was cited for 116 W. Sunbury St., where police said building materials and shingles are falling off, glass is broken and the building's southeast corner is collapsing.

Tracy Carmen, 35, and Jessica Kruleski, both of 106 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, were cited for allegedly allowing household trash to pile up on their front porch. Previous warnings were ignored.

Burglary

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone broke into the residence of Rebecca Miller, 40, of 6340 Musser Lane, and stole jewelry and an Xbox having a total value of $3,295.

Police said the burglary occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

Driver cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Christine Jeffery, 28, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, was cited by Patrolman Chris Williams for careless driving, driving under suspension and failure to wear a seat belt in connection with a one-vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 61 near the former Ames Department Store.

Telephone scam

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have received multiple complaints from residents who received telephone calls from a person claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Police said the person with the IRS threatens to sue or have the resident locked up if they do not pay money, allegedly to the IRS.

Police warned residents to never give out personal information over the phone and advised them to contact the IRS about the messages at 1-800-829-1040.

Fuel thefts

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police are investigating thefts of diesel fuel and home heating oil in Trevorton last week.

Diesel fuel was siphoned from two vehicles parked along Mahanoy Street, near Ninth Street, March 4. The value of the stolen fuel is unknown.

Sometime between March 2 and 4, a side door to a Market Street home was opened, with 100 gallons of home heating oil siphoned from a tank.

Sexting

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police said a 15-year-old girl received an obscene picture via text message from the cell phone of an unidentified 21-year-old male.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Joshua Waylon Buck, 33, of 406 Walnut St., Sunbury, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with public drunkenness for an incident in the 500 block of North Shamokin Street about 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Catherine M. Campbell, 34, of 9 E. Commerce St., was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with harassment and disorderly conduct. Police said she attempted to fight a male inside her home at 11:59 p.m. Monday.

Key found

SHAMOKIN - A vehicle key was found Wednesday morning at Grant and Elm streets and turned over to the Shamokin Police Department, 511 N. Franklin St.

Burglar sought

SHAMOKIN - An investigation continues into an attempted break-in at a home on the first block of East Commerce Street at 2:35 a.m. Thursday.

City police chief Darwin Tobias III said officers searched the area but could not locate a suspect. The investigation continues.

Rig strikes car

SHAMOKIN - A tractor-trailer struck a parked car on Sunbury Street (Route 61) in Shamokin at 9:43 a.m. Thursday.

The tractor trailer, owned by Shelba D.J. Thomas Trucking, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling north on Sunbury Street when the driver, Justin Dorley, made a left turn onto Liberty Street to make a delivery at Bader's Furniture. The rear bumper of the trailer struck a parked 2013 Honda Accord owned by Jordin Bednar, of Sunbury, causing significant damage to the left rear of the car. The trailed suffered no visible damage.

Wave to cousin causes crash

ATLAS - Two vehicles crashed Thursday just off the viaduct near Mount Carmel.

Heather Frank, 30, of Mount Carmel, driving a 2007 Ford Escape, was attempting a left turn from Route 61 onto Wilburton Road about 11:30 a.m. Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said Frank noticed a cousin standing on the south berm, waved to the cousin, and accelerated from the turning lane into the southbound lane. She drove into the oncoming path of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma and the vehicles collided. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed.

John Koschoff, 63, of Marion Heights, driver of the Tacoma, was taken by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Assisting at the scene were Mount Carmel Lt. Chris Buhay and Kulpmont Fire Police.

Argument over utility bill

SHAMOKIN - Elizabeth M. Cruz, 33, of 20 E. Lincoln St., was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with two counts of simple assault and harassment following a domestic incident at 3 p.m. Monday at 914 E. Chestnut St.

Police said Cruz argued with Marie Feliciano and Angel Cruz over utility bills. The argument escalated and Elizabeth Cruz punched Angel Cruz in the left side of his face and Feliciano on her right side, according to police. Both suffered swelling on their faces, while Feliciano also suffered a cut below her right eye.

Cruz was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $2,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Purse stolen

MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove reported a white female stole a purse belonging to Mary DeWire, 71, of Selinsgrove, from her shopping cart at Giant Markets in Monroe Market Place at about 10:40 a.m. Thursday before fleeing the store in a dark red Chevrolet HHR.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Cameron Spaid, 19, of Mifflinburg, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for allegedly stealing merchandise from Kohl's Department Store in Monroe Market Place at 1:30 p.m. March 9.

Injuries updated

BLOOMSBURG - State police at Bloomsburg reported a 17-year-old Shamokin male, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that crashed into a wooded area Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Mid-Valley Highway and Route 42 in Aristes, and a 14-year-old female passenger from Mount Carmel suffered moderate injuries in the accident.

Police said a 16-year-old female passenger from Coal Township suffered serious injuries, while a 15-year-old male passenger from Coal Township suffered minor injuries.

All four teens were transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, but their conditions couldn't be obtained because their identities were not revealed by state police in accordance with their policy not to release the names of juveniles involved in accidents or other incidents.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - John Shoup, 51, of 115 Webster St., Ranshaw, was cited by Coal Township Patrolman Chris Lapotsky for scattering rubbish for allegedly dumping several bags of household trash in a mountain area behind Coal Run on land owned by Kenneth Snyder, 36, of 5351 Route 61, Paxinos.

Police said Shoup allegedly dumped the trash between Feb. 14 and March 3.

Unknown vehicle damages lawn

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here reported a vehicle damaged a large section of lawn at the gazebo on Tioga Street by driving onto the grass and over to a nearby playground between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Glass broken

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lee Conrad, 34, of Conrad Trucking on Fifth Street, reported someone broke a pane of glass on a garage door at his business between 7 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Friday.

The cost to repair the glass is $30.

Vehicle damage

COAL TOWNSHIP - Nicholas Graboski, 34, of 1025 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, reported someone damaged his 2008 Ford while it was parked near his residence between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday.

The damage consisted of a dent in the lower portion of the trunk.

DUI

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Joseph Allen Tomcavage, of 159 E. Old Reading Road, Catawissa, was charged by state police at Lykens with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Feb. 9 traffic stop on Route 225 near Lake Tobias.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Jason J. McCormick, 33, of 830 Lott St., Coal Township, has been charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving involving a Feb. 14 accident at Lincoln and Grant streets.

Police reported McCormick had a blood-alcohol content of .233 percent.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle has charged Robert F. Ferrick, 50, of 25 N. Second St., Shamokin, with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Feb. 14 incident in the first block of North Second Street.

Police reported Ferrick had a blood-alcohol content of .219 percent, had marijuana in his blood system and possessed a copper pipe containing marijuana residue when he was found slumped behind the steering wheel of his vehicle with the engine revving.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Michael J. Shingara, 21, of 555 N. Second St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of drug paraphernalia after being found with three syringes March 2 at his residence.

Receiving stolen property

SHAMOKIN - Casey D. Raab, 25, of 1440 Hemlock St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Raab was caught trying to sell rings to Ye Olde Coin Shop that he knew had been stolen from a home along Old Reading Road in Paxinos.

Police said the offense occurred Feb. 10.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Christina J. Hepner, 27, of 19 E. Independence St., Apt. 7, Shamokin, with possession of drug paraphernalia after being found with a syringe March 4 during a search at Shamokin Police Station.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Zalinski has charged Bernadette Wysock, 63, of 330 S. Market St., Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving relating to a Feb. 22 accident in the first block of East Lincoln Street.

Police reported Wysock had a blood-alcohol content of .257 percent, a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana and a metal smoking pipe.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Matthew Kleman, 18, of 614 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Joshua Wynn with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a car parked outside 1887 Trevorton Road on March 9.

Police reported Kleman intentionally kicked the rear driver's side door of a 2012 Nissan Rogue, causing $1,113 in damage.

Hit-and-run charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Wayne D. Thompson, 27, of 532 Edison Ave., Sunbury, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, failure to give information or render aid at an accident, failure to give immediate notice of an accident to police, driving under suspension and failure to stop for a red light relating to a Feb. 22 hit-and-run accident at Hospital Road and Route 61 in Tharptown.

Drug paraphernalia

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Jason Adams has charged Madlyne Kozlowski, 18, of 1420 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported Kozlowski is accused of possessing a syringe and five empty heroin packets in the 900 block of West Mulberry Street on March 9.

Marijuana charge

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver has charged Zolange Otero, 30, of 231 W. Willow St., Shamokin, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a March 11 incident at her home.

Police said Otero possessed marijuana, a blunt and rolling papers.

Retail conspiracy

COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael A. Klinger Jr., 26, of 39 Middle St. P.O. Box 42, Locustdale, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with stealing more than $1,500 from Walmart Supercenter.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Klinger stole $415, $262.50 and $905 worth of merchandise Jan. 16, Jan. 19 and Feb. 2, respectively, and conspired to steal with Justin A. Klinger, 23, of 1724 Maple Ave., Coal Township, $677.50 in merchandise Jan. 16 and Jan. 19 from the store.

Michael Klinger is charged with three counts of retail theft and one count of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft.

Justin Klinger is charged by Hashuga with two counts of retail theft and one count of criminal conspiracy for the Jan. 16 and 19 thefts and for conspiring with Michael Klinger for the alleged thefts on those dates.

Police did not indicate if the Klingers are related.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police reported Tuesday that Kristine Cuthie, 32, of 329 S. Vine St., Shamokin, will be cited for failing to give immediate notice of an accident to police and accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property relating to a Feb. 1 hit-and-run accident in the 1600 block of Tioga Street.

Police said Cuthie was operating a 2002 Volkswagen west on Tioga Street at 3:29 a.m. when her car struck a parked 2004 Toyota that was pushed into a parked 2009 Chevrolet. Both vehicles are owned by Dennis and Nicole Zuech, of 1636 Tioga St.

The Toyota sustained moderate damage to its driver's side front and was towed. The Chevy sustained minor damage to its front bumper.

SUV scratched

COAL TOWNSHIP - Heather Hannah, 42, of 1145 E. Webster St., reported someone used a sharp object to scratch the driver's side of her 2004 Ford sport utility vehicle while it was parked in front of her residence between 7:30 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Offender didn't register

SHAMOKIN - Megan's Law offender Jeffrey Scott Miller, 44, formerly of 29 N. Seventh St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Mark Costa with failing to register a new address with state police as required by law.

Police said Miller left 29 N. Seventh St. in September but did not report his new address.

He's since been incarcerated in Jefferson County Prison.

Route 61 DUI

STONINGTON - Edward J. Kleman, 28, of 319 E. Water St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Trooper James Nestico of state police at Stonington with two counts each of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt involving a Feb. 25 traffic stop in the parking lot at Walmart Supercenter.

Police reported Kleman was observed driving carelessly south on Route 61 and had a blood-alcohol content of .174 percent. He also had marijuana in his blood system, they charge.

Drug charges

RIVERSIDE - Christopher JC Riley, 23, of 117 N. Ardmoor Ave., Danville, was charged by Patrolman Timothy Kiefaber with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a lighting violation involving a March 8 traffic stop in the parking lot at Routes 54 and 11.

Police said Riley had a blood-alcohol content of .102 percent and was found in possession of a blue glass smoking pipe and small plastic bag containing marijuana.

Spice offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Charles Anthony Parkansky, 19, of 520 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman and Chief of Police Todd Owens with delivery of Spice, possession with intent to deliver Spice, possession of Spice, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported Parkansky allegedly sold five grams of Spice to a confidential informant for $50 and possessed Spice and drug paraphernalia in the presence of a 15-year-old on March 7 in the first block of West Avenue.

Parkansky was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and released on $10,000 bail.

Pot possession

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Damian Thomas Spade, 18, of 142 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Police reported Spade possessed 3.8 grams of marijuana, a cylinder and prescription pill bottle in his vehicle at Routes 54 and 61 on Nov. 2.

Garbage money stolen

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Lt. Christopher Buhay against Michael J. Conches, 32, of 125 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel.

Police said Conches is accused of stealing an envelope containing a $40 check issued by Leslie Mattucci, of 407 W. Fourth St., to her garbage collection company. Police said Conches stole the check from Mattucci's mailbox March 6.

Paraphernalia charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Steven W. Schlief Jr., 21, of 4540 State Route 61, Paxinos, was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with possession of drug paraphernalia after being found with a wooden corn cob pipe containing residue consistent with the use of Spice or marijuana.

Police said in filing the charges this week that the incident occurred Sept. 27 at Seventh and Poplar streets.

In a separate case, a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman against Jeremiah A. Johnson, 19, of 24 Dutch Road, Ashland.

Police said Johnson was found in possession of a smoking pipe, rolling papers and brass filters used to ingest Spice in an apartment in the first block of East Third Street on March 3.

Bus business burglarized

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Township police are investigating a break-in at Catawese Coach, 862 Trevorton Road, that occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 7:50 a.m. Monday.

Police said an unknown person entered the office area by damaging a door. They went into another room and ransacked desks and content. It's not yet known if anything was stolen.

Warrants for no-shows

MOUNT CARMEL - Bench warrants will be issued by Northumberland County Court after two Mount Carmel defendants failed to show for preliminary hearings Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Jonathan Garcia, 22, of 428 W. Fig St., did not appear for his hearing on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, stemming from a July 25 traffic stop by Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Chris Dailey at the Glosser Motor Inn, Route 487.

Jake Stellar, 25, of 245 E. Fourth St., failed to show for his hearing on criminal mischief and disorderly conduct charges filed by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Matthew Dillman regarding a Jan. 2 incident on South Oak Street.

In the defendants' absence, both cases were ordered held for county court by Jones on Wednesday.

Fuel stolen

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police are investigating two cases of diesel fuel being siphoned out of vehicles parked on Mahanoy Street near Ninth Street.

Police did not identify the owners of the vehicles, but said one vehicle, parked unattended from 1:30 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Monday, had approximately 25 gallons stolen. The other had an undetermined amount taken, with no time frame provided.

Sign damaged; driver flees

STONINGTON - State police at Stonington are looking for the driver of a vehicle that damaged a road sign at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday along Route 61 east of Maple Road.

Police said a red Chrysler Town and Country minivan was traveling west near Northumberland Memorial Park when, for an unknown reason, it veered off the road and struck a speed limit sign. The driver did not stop, police said.

Damage should be evident on the right front corner of the vehicle.

DUI charges filed

ELYSBURG - Ryan J. Pensyl, 20, of 656 Pine St., Kulpmont, was charged with three counts of driving under the influence, failure to drive on the right side of the road, driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving with a suspended or revoked license and underage drinking following an investigation into a Feb. 21 traffic stop on Route 54 near Vought's Equipment Rental.

Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Chris Dailey said he stopped a vehicle Pensyl was driving after observing him swerving across the center and fog lines and putting on turn signals where no turns existed. Once stopped, Pensyl refused to take field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, police said. They said a mostly consumed half-gallon bottle of vodka was found in the rear seat area. Pensyl was taken for chemical testing and results showed his blood alcohol level was .234 percent.

Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 22.

Truck rocked

COAL TOWNSHIP - Bernard Pronick, 51, of 905 W. Pine St., discovered Wednesday morning that someone threw several large rocks at his 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck, causing damage to the windshield, hood, headlights and passenger side fender. Anyone with information is asked to call Coal Township police at 570-644-0333.

Two crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two vehicles were towed after colliding on Reinhart Road at 9:22 p.m. Thursday, according to Coal Township police.

Mark Campbell, 50, of 1274 Market St., Sunbury, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet west when he crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a 2002 GMC truck driven by Scott Hammaker, 51, of 138 S. Second St., Gratz. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - John Vincent Shustack, 49, and Mary Beth Goodlunas, 42, both of 545 Spruce St., Kulpmont, were cited by Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage with disorderly conduct relating to a domestic disturbance March 3.

Pitcavage said officers were dispatched to their home at 10:13 a.m. after witnesses reported hearing them argue for two hours using obscene language and making excessive noise.

Shustack was later charged by Pitcavage with accidents involving damage to unattended property and driving with a suspended license related to a hit-and-run crash about 12:40 p.m. in the 500 block of Chestnut Street.

Police said he drove into a road sign, causing damage to a fence at 510 Chestnut St., and fled the scene.

Snow crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 2009 Nissan minivan driven by Kathy Slotterback, of 16 N. Second St., Shamokin, slid from Venn Access Road near the Shamokin Area High School about 8:15 Friday morning, police said.

All passengers escaped injury but the vehicle sustained light damage. Police attributed the crash to the slick, snowy roads.

Fire injury

WATSONTOWN - State Police in Milton say a Watsontown woman was listed in critical condition Friday at the Burn Recovery Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest after a fire heavily damaged an apartment building Thursday.

Police said the fire broke out in the apartment of Diane L. St. James-Amoss, 59, of 26 E. Fourth St., Apt. 5, at 8:39 a.m. She was flown to the center by Life Flight.

Ten other tenants escaped injury but were displaced. The building is owned by Beverly F. Wagner, 69, of Lewisburg. Damage is approximately $150,000.

Strikes bank

HERNDON - A Herndon man was cited after crashing into an embankment Thursday in Jackson Township.

Gregory B. Escaro, 39, was driving a 1999 Saab 95 south on Mandata Road about 2:20 p.m. when he drove into the northbound lane, exited the roadway and crashed, according to state police at Stonington.

Police said Escaro was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The vehicle was towed.

Trooper Daniel Wilk cited Escaro for violating the traffic code, roadways laned for traffic.

Aggravated assault of 1 year old

GRAZT - State police at Lykens are investigating an assault they say occurred against an unidentified 1-year-old victim at 107 S. Second St. at around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Girl, 6, hurt in three-vehicle crash

WINFIELD - A young girl suffered a minor injury in three-vehicle crash on Route 15 at the Unioin-Snyder County line at 10 a.m. Friday.

State police at Milton said Jessica M. Hughes, 26, of Jersey Shore, was traveling too fast for conditions when she lost control of her 2006 Ford Explorer on a wet road. She drove her vehicle over the center median and into oncoming traffic, striking a 2010 Ford F-150 driven by Colin R. Clayberger, 67, of Sunbury. Clayberger's vehicle then collided with a 2005 Ford Focus driven by Robert A. Ciecierega, 67 of Geneseo, N.Y.

Hughes, Clayberger and Ciecierega were uninjured but a 6-year-old girl in Hughes' vehicle was treated for a minor injury at the scene. Hughes and Clayberger's vehicles were towed.

Hughes will be cited with driving at an unsafe speed, police said.

Charges from school threat

ELIZABETHVILLE - State police at Lykens said they charged Warren C. Weaver, 18, of Lykens, with terroristic threats and disorderly conduct after he allegedly said Upper Dauphin Area High School needs a school shooting for people to realize how they treat others. The incident took place at noon Thursday, March 12, police said.

Weapon on school property

MOUNT CARMEL - A 12-year-old male from Mahanoy City was charged by Lt. Chris Buhay with possession of a weapon on school property and disorderly conduct for possessing a four inch folding knife while attending Compass Academy, 30 W. Third St., Mount Carmel.

Drunk in public

MOUNT CARMEL - Richard Conner, 47, of 343 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was cited with public drunkenness by borough police chief Todd Owens for an incident that occurred in the 300 block of S. Oak St. at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

Owens said he observed Conner severely intoxicated.

Conner was also listed as a wanted person through Northumberland County Adult Probation and was taken into custody.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Wendy L. Green, 48, of 120 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct for an incident at the Turkey Hill Minit Market, Fifth and Market Streets, at 9 p.m. March 2.

Police were summoned to the store for Green who was allegedly causing a disturbance and found her hiding in the walk-in cooler. She was intoxicated and also had urinated herself, they said.

Green is also cited by Lt. Chris Buhay for an incident at the Top Star Minit Market, Third and Maple streets, at 8 am. March 8.

Green was found in the bathroom of the store under the influence and had to be transported to the hospital by ambulance, police said.

Drunk in public

MOUNT CARMEL - Joshua M. Plasters, 28, of 136 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with public drunkenness for an incident at 1 a.m. March 9.

Police said they were summoned to the Turkey Hill Minit Market at Fifth and Market streets and found Plasters intoxicated and unresponsive.

Public drunkenness

BUTLER TOWNSHIP - Kevin Ulrich, 26, of Paxinos, was cited by state police at Frackville for public drunkenness relating to an incident Saturday afternoon on State Run Road.

Police said Ulrich was heavily intoxicated and walked, knelt and fell onto the road at 3:40 p.m.

Two-vehicle crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:30 a.m. Thursday along Route 61 at the intersection with Old Country Club Road.

State police at Stonington report a 2005 Pontiac Montana, driven by Blain E. Clark, 71, of Paxinos, traveled across the oncoming lane of Route 61 and onto the road's shoulder to check his mailbox. When he went across the road, Clark's vehicle was struck from behind by a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Christopher D. Feaster, 32, of Sunbury. Both units traveled off the right side of Route 61 near Old Country Club Road.

Neither driver or Feaster's passenger, a 10-year-old female, was injured in the crash, and police cited Clark for a traffic violation.

Hit and run

SNYDERTOWN - Police are searching for a vehicle that damaged two parked cars in a crash at 3:15 a.m. Sunday on Snydertown Road near Mill Road.

State police say the unknown vehicle was traveling east on Snydertown Road while two other vehicles, a 2013 Ford Edge and a 2007 Dodge Ram, was parked at a home at 2000 Snydertown Road. Police said the driver lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the roadside and struck the back passenger side of the Ford Edge. The front driver's side of the Edge struck a tree and its rear drivers side struck the Ram.

The unknown vehicle then left the scene, traveling east on Route 61. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact state police at 570-286-5601.

One-vehicle crash

UPPER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - A Leck Kill teen was not injured in a crash at 1:45 p.m. Friday on Schwaben Creek Road.

State police at Stonington said Jared Specht, 18, of Leck Kill, was traveling east on Schwaben Creek Road in the right lane while negotiating a downhill left curve. Specht's vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree with its front end.

Police cited Specht for driving too fast for road conditions.

No injuries in crash

RIVERSIDE - No one was injured in a crash at 10:25 a.m. Friday on Elysburg Road near Hower Road, Riverside.

State police at Stonington report a 2008 Mercury Milan, driven by Debra Carnuccio, 59, of Shamokin, was traveling west on Elysburg Road when the vehicle exited the lane of travel and entered the eastbound lane of Route 54. The Milan struck an embankment off the eastbound shoulder, and then spun counterclockwise, crossing both lanes of the road, and coming to rest on the westbound shoulder.

Carnuccio was not injured, but was cited by police for driving at an unsafe speed for road conditions.

TVs stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two brothers are accused of stealing multiple televisions from Walmart Supercenter, Route 61, earlier this year.

Justin A. Klinger, 23, of 1724 Maple Ave., Coal Township, was arraigned Tuesday morning by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic on two counts of retail theft and a count of criminal conspiracy. He's held in Snyder County Prison, Selinsgrove, on $5,000 bail.

Michael T. Klinger, 26, of 39 Middle St., Locustdale, was expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on three counts of retail theft and a count of criminal conspiracy. Bail also was expected at $5,000. He's currently held in Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, on another case.

The brothers were allegedly together for thefts on Jan. 16 and Jan. 19 of five TVs valued at a combined $677.50. Michael T. Klinger is also accused in a third theft Feb. 2 of three TVs valued at $905 total. Police say the brothers were filmed by surveillance cameras taking the TVs and walking out the store's front entrance. They're also accused of a similar theft at the Buckhorn Walmart.

'Magic' theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Thomas Smith, 36, of 249 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, is charged by township Patrolman Jason Adams with retail theft and criminal trespass. Smith is accused of stealing 62 packs of "Magic: The Gathering" cards on March 10 from Walmart Supercenter, Route 61, valued at $259.16. He had previously been barred from entering the store.

Drunk driving

SHAMOKIN - Lucille Alma Dunleavy, 58, of 305 S. Harrison St., Shamokin, is charged by city Patrolman Shane Mowery with two counts of driving under the influence and one count of careless driving. Police say Dunleavy failed field sobriety testing after she drove a car into a utility pole at Water and Diamond streets behind the city's downtown on Feb. 8. Her blood alcohol content was 0.228 percent, according to a criminal complaint.

Card stolen

SHAMOKIN - Rosemary Reigle, 49, of 804 N. Washington St., Apt. 1, Shamokin, is charged by city Chief Darwin Tobias III with access device fraud and theft. Reigle is accused of stealing a debit card from Megan Corbacio on March 7 and using it to buy a pack of cigarettes for $5.72 and withdraw $100 from an ATM.

Pipe, needle

SHAMOKIN - Tina Moyle, 41, of 425 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 4, Shamokin, is charged by city Chief Darwin Tobias III with possession of drug paraphernalia. Moyle is accused of possessing a tinfoil smoking pipe, a syringe and a spoon during a check of her apartment by Northumberland County Probation officers on March 11. Police say she admitted to using the items to ingest "spice" and heroin.

Domestic violence

SHAMOKIN - Jimmie Howard, 53, of 139 S. Pearl St., Shamokin, is charged by city Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with simple assault and harassment. Howard is accused of choking a woman and bitting her upper lip during an assault inside his home March 10. The alleged victim suffered bruising and bleeding but refused medical treatment, according to a criminal complaint.

Pleads guilty

SHAMOKIN - Elizabeth Marie Cruz, 33, of Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to summary harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic to pay a $200 fine plus court costs. She was cited by city Patrolman William Zalinski for striking two people March 9 inside 914 E. Chestnut St. Two counts of simple assault were withdrawn.

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone acquired the Social Security number of Wilfred Allen Henderson, 68, of 776 Twin Hill Road, and filed a federal income tax claim with the Internal Revenue Service. Police said the incident occurred March 16.

Burglary

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - George Martin, 59, of 1231 Mount Pleasant Road, told state police at Stonington someone entered his front door and stole jewelry and two handguns between 12:45 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ryan Wendell, 23, of Millersburg, will be charged by Trooper David Boucher of state police at Stonington for driving under the influence of alcohol relating to an incident at 12:54 a.m. Thursday along Route 61, just east of Route 225 in Coal Township.

Upon stopping to see if Wendell needed assistance with a flat tire, Boucher said he smelled a strong odor of alcohol. A field sobriety test was conducted and Wendell was taken into custody. He refused to submit to a blood test.

Route 61 accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - Nathan Hinkle, 22, of 51 Church St., Locust Gap, escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident at 6 a.m. Thursday on Route 61 near East End Automotive. Patrolman Chris Lapotsky said Hinkle was driving south when he lost control of his vehicle, which struck a utility pole on the side of the highway. Hinkle's vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Personnel from Coal Township fire and AREA Services Ambulance assisted.

Hit and run

RANSHAW - Coal Township police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the 100 block of Main Street at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The hit-and-run vehicle, which struck a parked van owned by Laura Whitman, of Ranshaw, is red and should have damage to its passenger side front end. It has no side view mirror or front hubcap. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on Main Street.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jason Bower, 37, of 6 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with retail theft for allegedly stealing merchandise valued at $590.18 from Walmart Supercenter on Route 61 Aug. 24.

Theft charge

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Shane Mowery has charged Brenda Jane Snyder, 49, of 1123 W. Water St., Coal Township, with retail theft for allegedly removing two boxes of hair products valued at $10.49 each from CVS Pharmacy, 12 W. Independence St., Jan. 29.

Three sentenced in separate DUI cases

SUNBURY - Three defendants charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance were sentenced Monday by Northumberland County President Judge William H. Wiest.

- Stacey Duran, 28, of Kulpmont, was ordered to complete five years intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest. Duran also was fined $1,500, must pay assorted costs and had her driver's license suspended for 18 months.

Duran was charged by Point Township police with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an Aug. 27 incident.

- William Slusser, 43, of Mifflinville, was ordered to serve six days to 12 months in Northumberland County Prison, beginning April 11, and must pay $2,000 in fines plus costs. He had his driver's license suspended for 12 months.

Slusser was charged by Mount Carmel police and state police at Stonington with DUI relating to incidents Sept. 11, 2013, and Dec. 27, 2013, respectively.

- Nicole Albertson, 23, of Milton, was sentenced to three days to six months in county prison and had her driver's license suspended for 12 months. She was fined $1,000 plus costs.

Albertson was charged by Shamokin police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance involving an Aug. 31 incident.
